Aims & Objectives

This one-day course focuses on the legal requirements of DSEAR. There are 17 regulations within DSEAR, of which 11 carry mandatory compliance duties. The course is designed to give those responsible for enforcing and controlling health and safety a clear understanding of these duties, so they can ensure their organisation manages the risks from dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres correctly.

Suitability

Those responsible for enforcing and controlling health and safety in the workplace — those responsible for ensuring safety but who do not work in the environment themselves. Senior management and director level.

Requirements

No prior DSEAR experience is required.

The DSEAR Regulations & Your Legal Duties

• An overview of the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR)
• The 17 regulations within DSEAR, and the 11 that carry mandatory compliance duties
• The responsibilities of those who manage, enforce and control workplace safety

Understanding the Risk

• Dangerous substances and how explosive atmospheres arise in the workplace
• The employer's duties around hazard identification and risk assessment
• How the regulations apply at management, plant and company-policy level

Course Materials

• Each delegate receives a full and detailed 100-page training manual to support their learning

Notes

Each course delegate will receive a full and detailed 100-page training manual to assist with their learning. Fully comprehensive notes will be given to all delegates who attend the course.

Certification

On satisfactory completion of the course a certificate of competence will be issued that will be valid for three years.
