Syllabus
The 1 day course focuses more on the legal requirements. There are 17 regulations in DSEAR of which 11 are mandatory compliance. This course is aimed at those responsible for, enforcing and controlling health and safety in the workplace. Namely those responsible to ensure safety, but those who do not actually work in the environment themselves. Senior management and director level. Each course delegate will receive a full and detailed 100 page training manual to assist with their learning. The 2 day course listed is to be phased out. – basically when training groups exceed a certain size, there can be too many distractions – individual company problems etc. and whilst most raised issues can be relevant to the discussion or course content, they can also distract from the course time table and material. This if not controlled can lead to a point whereby delegates then struggled with the required course content level. As a result, our decision was to both extend the 2 day course content, to make it more in-depth to further explain some of the more complicated detail, whilst at the same time, adding an additional 3 hours for open discussion, such that this has now developed into the new 3 day course. DSEAR is a very complicated subject and from our point, it is important that people understand the topic, have time to digest the information, whilst relating it to their work environment and have the opportunity to share their experiences with other delegates where some time common simple working solutions can often be found..We believe it is for reasons like this, that we achieved a 98% result during our last IOSH audit. The 3 day course is aimed at those who have not yet undertaken a DSEAR risk assessment, are most likely to both work in the environment, as well as manage the area day to day. Whilst similar to the structure of the one day original IOSH certified course, the content depth and the number of topics covered is greatly increased. Dust is featured in more depth, with example video's and data analytics, in-additional to sections on ATEX vapour and dust classifications.BS 60079-10 Ex Zone determination are also included, giving a greater understanding of Ex Zoning and how ATEX fits into the DSEAR equation.Explanations are provided on gas groups, subgroups, temperature ratings and so forth. Reference is also drawn to the theoretical understanding of flammable vapours with examples of how the Lower Explosive Limit can be converted into a meaningful quantity or volume of chemical or dust per cubic metre of space..We will also supply each delegate with a copy of a typical risk assessment template. .In addition, each course delegate will receive a full and detailed 150 page training manual to assist with their learning. Working group activities are required along with a larger “multiple choice” exam at the end of the day. The required pass mark is minimum 70%. The 5 day course is exactly the same as the 3 day course, but in addition it covers Gas installations in some detail, Commercial gases, mobile verses plumbed applications, the use of mobile and installation of Bulk cryogenic tanks etc. and the COMAH requirements. However, for most companies, the content detailed in the 3 day course is sufficient to meet their normal commercial cylinders (Argon, Oxy, Acetylene LPG etc) requirements.. .Notes
Fully Comprehensive notes will be given to all delegates who attend the courseCertification
