Aims & Objectives
The objective of this course is to give participants a clear understanding of how to investigate accidents and incidents, adopting a systematic approach to determine why an adverse event has occurred and the steps to take next.
The principal aim of the programme is to provide delegates with the range of tools required to carry out an effective investigation, so that an accident does not happen again and incidents are reduced as far as is reasonably practicable.
Suitability
Employers, managers, supervisors, safety professionals and safety representatives responsible for carrying out accident and incident investigations in the workplace. Typical delegates include those managing projects on manufacturing or construction sites, health and safety managers and officers, facilities managers, and those responsible for commercial premises and workplaces.Requirements
No prior experience is required. The workshop is practical and based on the HSE guidance Investigating Accidents and Incidents (HSG245), with delegates working through case studies.

- Action plan, implementation and ensuring remedial action

Learning Outcomes
- Understand why adverse events occur
- Communicate effectively in the language of investigation and gather all required information
- Analyse information in a meaningful way and identify the risk control measures required
