On completion of the one day course, the operators will know: Their statutory duties under the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. The importance of sling angle in relation to safe working load. The importance of weight and centre of gravity in relation to the safe working load of the lifting tackle. Signalling codes for slingers

STATUTORY REQUIREMENTS: The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Section 2 General Duties of Employers, Section 7 & 8 – General Duties of Employees, Powers of the Inspectorate, The Provision and Use of Work Equipment, Regulations 1998 (An overview), The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment, Regulations 1998 (An overview), INTRODUCTION TO SLINGING: Recognition of damaged parts, Examination, and Inspection, Colour Coding, Storage, Correct Use of Slings, Methods of Slinging, Use of Charts, Angles of Lift

Certification

On satisfactory completion of the course a certificate of competence will be issued that will be valid for 3 years
