Pallet Truck Training

Aims & Objectives

This course is designed for operatives required to use pallet trucks. On completion, delegates will be able to operate their pallet truck safely, carry out the required pre-use checks, and move and handle loads correctly.

Suitability

Operatives who are required to use manual or powered pallet trucks in the workplace.

Requirements

No prior experience is required. The course length depends on the number of delegates and their experience - please contact us to discuss.

Syllabus

Introduction & Safety

• Introduction to the pallet truck and its safe use and limitations
• Relevant legislation and operator responsibilities
• Major components and controls

Pre-Use Checks

• Pre-use checks and inspection
• Pre-use function checks

Operating the Pallet Truck

• Manoeuvring the pallet truck
• Load handling: lifting, moving and positioning loads safely
• Working safely in the operating environment
• Parking safely

Assessment

• Theory test
• Practical assessment

Notes

Comprehensive notes will be given to all students who attend the course.

Certification

On satisfactory completion of the course a certificate of competence will be issued that will be valid for three years.
