Counterbalance & Reach Forklift Truck Training

Aims & Objectives

This course is designed for operatives required to work with counterbalance or reach forklift trucks. On completion, delegates will be able to operate their truck safely, carry out the required checks, and manoeuvre and handle loads as needed in the workplace.

Suitability

Operatives who are required to operate counterbalance or reach forklift trucks. Available for new operators and as refresher training for experienced operators.

Requirements

The number of days depends on the delegates' prior experience and the number being trained. Please contact us to discuss the right course length for your team.

Syllabus

Introduction & Safety

• Introduction to the forklift truck and its safe operation and limitations of use
• Relevant legislation and operator responsibilities
• Major components and controls

Pre-Use Checks

• Pre-use checks and inspection
• Starting and stopping the machine
• Pre-use function checks

Operating the Truck

• Travelling and manoeuvring
• Load handling: lifting, moving, stacking and de-stacking
• Working safely in the operating environment
• Parking the machine

Assessment

• Theory test
• Practical assessment

Notes

Comprehensive notes will be given to all students who attend the course.

Certification

On satisfactory completion of the course a certificate of competence will be issued that will be valid for three years.
